This position requires excellent customer service for our clients: ensuring total satisfaction of the customer from the time he/she enters the establishment up to the time they leave.

Job Description:
  • Receiving customers
  • Informing customers on items available on the menu
  • Taking orders from customers on food and beverage
  • Presenting menus to customers and answer questions about menu items
  • Providing excellent customer service to ensure that the customers enjoy their meals
  • Take action to correct any problem customers may have regarding the Restaurant
  • Explaining how various menu items are prepared , describing ingredients and cooking methods
  • Table setting
  • Receiving payment from customers
Minimum requirements for the position are:
  • Certificate in a hospitality course
  • Good communication skills
  • Good in simple addition
  • 1 year’s experience working as a waiter
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge about food and food service
  • Patient attitude
  • Well organized, presentable and ability to work under pressure and long hours.

World Agroforestry Centre - Temporary Molecular Lab Technician Job in Nairobi Kenya

About the position

The position of Temporary Molecular Lab Technician will be based at our headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya and will report directly to the Molecular Lab Manager.

The incumbent will assist in assessing, monitoring and maintaining activities in the Molecular Laboratory.

Duties and responsibilities

1. Managing day-to-day activities in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory:
  • Preparing buffers
  • Updating laboratory protocols
  • Carrying out viability tests for DNA and enzymes in storage
  • Sterilizing equipment and glassware.
2. Assessing genetic diversity of Faidherbia.albida in ICRAF gene bank collections:
  • DNA extraction
  • AFLP analysis
  • Data analysis
  • Report/publication.
3. Ordering of required Molecular Lab reagents and following up on their delivery.

4. Maintaining the Molecular Genetics Laboratory inventory.

5. Guiding and directing PhD and MSc students and interns.

6. Co-ordinating visits in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory by:
  • Explaining the Molecular Lab processes and procedures to the visitors
  • Identifying and provide relevant information to the visitors.
Requirements
  • Degree in biotechnology or related disciplines with a minimum of one year experience
  • At least one year of experience in a Molecular Lab.
