As Head of Research you will play a central role in building our capacity to gather information, analyze data using SPSS , formulate and submit influential and high profile policy research for publication in international scientific journals.

Ujamaa-Africa works in five slums in Kenya. We empower women. We have been conducting a research for the last year, on Self Defense skills impact, after teaching young girls and women in the village. Which is why, we are rebuilding and expanding it to form a focused thematic team and bring in more senior level capacity.

We are creating a professional role at this level of our research for a strategic and a result driven professional who can lead our policy thinking in these areas, influence world leaders, and change futures for the world’s most vulnerable girls and women.

We are looking for somebody who can;
  • Spearhead, direct and oversee research in all UJAMAA research projects from research design to implementation, analysis and developments in all our initiatives.
  • Lead and deliver credible, influential and high profile policy research.
  • Contribute particularly to our No Means No department.
  • Forge new and innovative partnerships with all parties engaged in this research process.
  • Build a high performing research dept. team.
  • Co-authorize, supervise and review research findings.
  • Write briefs, research publications and articles written for a variety of audiences in order to advance the research process.
The individual should have;
  • A significant track record of applied research .
  • Demonstrable expertise in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Should have applicable knowledge in Research software’s.
  • Finely honed strategic thinking, planning and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with a wide range of audiences
  • A sound understanding of our initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead and work in a complex organization across thematic, functional and distinct cultures.
  • The candidate must have strong interpersonal and collaborative skills working with researchers and practitioners.
  • The successful candidate must be organized, have the ability to multitask and handle timelines and priorities in a team environment.
  • Must be enthusiastic about working across disciplines and community sectors.
  • Should have a degree in any Research related field.

3G Radio Planning Senior Engineer

Reporting to the Senior Regional Network Planning Manager-Eastern & Coast, the holder of the position will manage and coordinate 3G network projects; 3G Network Capacity Provision , Nominal Cell Planning and documentation and Monitor 3G KPI’s /3G Radio network optimisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 3G project Management and coordination;
  • 3G Radio Network Capacity Planning;
  • New 3G sites planning, surveys, parameters design and release of accurate nominal plans, redesigns and integration parameters;
  • 3G Network Optimization;
  • 3G Site database update and parameter standardization;
  • Prioritize customer complains and provide a solution/ recommendation within the agreed time frame;
  • Identification of Potential bottlenecks in the 3G end to end network and escalate to Core PS related concerns.
Minimum requirements:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Science, with an emphasis in Radio communications;
  • 3 years experience in telecommunication with 1 years minimum in UMTS hands–on experience in Radio Network planning;
  • Practical knowledge on use of radio planning tool and nominal cell planning;
  • Candidates with experience in Siemens or Huawei 3G equipment will have an added advantage;
  • Practical knowledge of 2G, 2.5G network a must;
  • Knowledge in tele-traffic Engineering will be an added advantage.

A construction company is looking to fill the position of Foremen.

Under the direction of the Site Agent, the incumbent will oversees all day to day activities on site ensuring the successful completion of the project.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum Diploma in Building and Civil Engineering or any construction related discipline
  • Well versed with computer applications (MS Excel/MS Word & MS Projects
  • Post graduate qualifications in Project Management shall be added advantage
  • Have a minimum 6 years post-graduate experience in end-to-end execution in the construction of large building projects and preferably labour intensive projects
  • Have at minimum 4 years experience in a supervisory role, fully in charge of a large project.
  • Must have good knowledge of basic construction technology and practices. Formal artisan training will be an added advantage.
  • Have good project planning and management skills
  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills are required
  • Good people management skills that result in timely meeting of deadlines
