Must have basic knowledge of the maintenance of a car

Account Manager, Social Research – Two vacancies

One of these will be a generalist manager as per below, and one must have specific monitoring and evaluation skills.

Position Scope

Based in Nairobi and reporting to the person in charge of our social research division, the position holder will managing and develop client relationships, conduct project design including sampling, proposal writing, planning, analysis and report writing on projects.

The key goal of our division is to help our clients achieve their goals.

TNS Social & Political Research is a leading agency globally in impact assessment, monitoring and evaluation, feasibility and needs assessment, large-scale surveys, complex statistical analysis, tracking studies, new product and service development testing, ethnographic and participatory research and opinion polling.

A large proportion of our business from East Africa involves social research, working for donors, NGOs and governments in the field of health, agriculture, governance, education, water and sanitation and poverty among other areas.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Planning and executing research projects
  • Managing and developing client relationships by providing the highest level of client service
  • Monitoring project costs and implementing cost effective solutions
  • Creation of proposals to meet client needs
  • Participating in costing processes, preparing draft costs & checking quotations
  • Project scheduling and managing change effectively
  • Creating project related materials
  • Working with team to analyze findings to generate insights and recommendations to meet clients' needs
  • Coaching/ on the job training for junior members
  • Promoting team spirit
Qualifications:
  • At least 4 years of progressive experience in market research and in particular social, public and political research, ideally in a commercially oriented research agency or organization.
  • A minimum of an undergraduate degree in a relevant subject in addition to the following skills:
  1. Excellent project management – able to manage the details of research projects in multi-country environments ensuring perfect timing and great quality.
  2. Good sales/negotiation/persuasion skills
  3. Strong research knowledge, and enthusiasm to keep up-to-date with the latest in methodologies.
  4. Self driven
  5. Good communication and social skills
  6. Demonstrated excellent client relationships development skills
  7. Superior IT skills
  8. Team player and organized team leader
  • For the M&E expert, at least 2 years in an environment designing and managing M&E programmes would be necessary.

Country Manager Kenya - PharmAccess

PharmAccess Foundation

PharmAccess is a young, fast-growing, international not-for-profit organization of Dutch origin.

Our mission is to improve access to quality healthcare in low-income countries in Africa by building sustainable health systems and applying innovative financing mechanisms. We establish public-private partnerships with local organizations and use an output-based approach.

PharmAccess in Kenya

PharmAccess Foundation is a registered NGO in Kenya and currently manages an operational community-based health insurance scheme with Tanykina Dairy Plant Limited, a dairy plant with 4,000 active principal members in Nandi North.

Furthermore, a partnership has been formed with Population Services International (PSI) for accreditation of their Tunza clinic network. All programs are expected to grow rapidly in the coming years, with additional support from a number of major international donors expected to be confirmed soon.

The office in Nairobi currently consists of 7 FTE.

Job Description

As Country Manager you will be our key local representative and linking pin between the Managing Director and Program Directors in Amsterdam and our local staff, donors, and implementing partners in Kenya.

Your role is to:
  • Contribute to business development by acting as a radar for local opportunities, creating an attractive external profile and opening doors to clients and donors
  • Serve as PharmAccess’s eyes and ears regarding local strategy and be acutely aware of social, political and business developments that may affect our programs
  • Represent PharmAccess externally, manage key relationships, and help solve any problems that may arise with our local partners
  • Guard the financial sustainability of the office by securing sufficient budget support for local implementation activities and maintaining an efficient support structure
  • Review and authorize planning, budgeting and reporting for all programs and projects, both for the head office in Amsterdam and for financial partners
  • Create an office environment that stimulates professional local execution, knowledge exchange between programs, and professional and personal growth for our staff
  • Supervise day-to-day operations, both for professional staff and support staff (e.g. accounting)
  • Act as program/project manager or technical assistance expert, with hands-on involvement with our programs and a focus on cooperation with implementing partners, providing direction and support to ensure that agreed implementation objectives are reached.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A relevant Master’s degree or MBA
  • Track record as an excellent results-driven international manager
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of Kenyan society and the local developmental playing field, including actors such as government, the private sector and international organizations
  • People manager who knows how to lead and stimulate a diverse group of ambitious people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively interact and build relations in an environment with multiple stakeholders from different cultures
  • Analytical skills and the ability to operate strategically in a complex setting
  • Proven experience with managing budgets and reporting to donors and clients
  • Excellent verbal and written command of English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools, including PowerPoint and Excel
  • Energetic and enthusiastic, flexible and creative – a problem solver
  • Affinity with our mission and objectives
A major advantage is experience in the field of development cooperation and NGOs, and knowledge of different aspects of public health.
