KEMRI Research Scientists (Mental Health and Lifestyle / Non-Communicable Diseases)

The Kenya Medical research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established through the Science and Technology (Amendment) Act of 1979. It is one of the leading health research institutes in Africa responsible for carrying out research on human health.

KEMRI’s vision is to be a leading centre of excellence in the promotion of quality health and its mission is to improve on the quality of health and human life through research.

KEMRI seeks to recruit dynamic, innovative and experienced persons to fill the positions of Research Scientists in the following areas:

1) Mental Health (1 post)

2) Lifestyle/Non-Communicable Diseases (1 post)

Positions description:

The primary role of these positions is to increase the capacity in research on mental health and other lifestyle/ non communicable diseases at the institute cognizant of the expansion of the institute’s programs to include a stronger non communicable disease program focusing on diseases such as cancer, depression,schizophrenia, stress, alcohol and substance abuse, diabetes,
hypertension and other disorders.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Secure research grants, particularly those in areas of Non - Communicable Diseases, focusing on Mental Health Cancer, Lifestyle and other related fields.
  • Support the development of a strong research program in Mental Health and Lifestyle/Non-Communicable Diseases at KEMRI.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Degree in Medicine and registered to practice by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board with current licensure
  • Masters in Psychiatry (mandatory for post of Mental Health)
  • MMed/PhD in public health/epidemiology or related field (Lifestyle/non•communicable diseases post)
  • Sub specialization in management of substance abuse, oncology, metabolic disorders or other relevant field will be an advantage
  • Management of mental health or other non communicable/ lifestyle diseases services in a large organization will be an advantage.
  • Proven track record in attracting research grants (evidenced by grants and publications).
  • Proven track record of mentorship
  • Knowledge and skills in research including experience in conducting clinical trials is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Computer literacy
  • Must have demonstrated exemplary leadership skills
  • Must be a team player

Purpose

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an energetic, innovative and seasoned marketing professional with financial services background.

This is an executive position reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya operations.

Job Requirements
  • Relevant marketing / commercial degree. A post-graduate degree will be advantageous.

Job Purpose:

Identify and improve processes that will ensure Revenue growth by retaining High Average Revenue per Unit customers. Support and implementation of customer service delivery strategies in the Region in conjunction with Head Quarters Team to ensure alignment.

Qualifications:
  • 8-10 years with a minimum of 3 years in management role preferably within the Telecoms industry as well as BPO experience is required.

Job Purpose:

To manage the Operating Expenditure Accounts Payable and Sales services functions to ensure that liabilities / Sales Proceeds are fairly stated in accordance with applicable local and international Accounting standards (under guidance from central office) and proper reconciliation of Float / Dealer Accounts in order to achieve business efficiencies.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 7 yrs of experience, handling independently the accounts for a large zone or a small company.

Qualifications:

Job Purpose:

Proactive engagement with business users to capture their requirements and Ensuring IT processes are followed.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors of IT.

Head legal & Regulatory Affairs

Job Purpose:

Oversees the country entire legal and regulatory function with objective of protecting the company’s interest. Responsible for setting the overall philosophy and strategy of the country
regarding legal and regulatory matters.

He / she will also ensure that all practices, policies, and business activities of the country fall within the bounds of the organization’s legal posture and compliance.

Proactively manages and mitigates risks and opportunities in the Rwandese regulatory landscape and environment.

Builds and maintains strong relationship with key regulatory, legal and government stakeholders.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in law.
  • LL.M or a Masters in Business Administration would be an added advantage.
  • 5+ years with emphasis on corporate law and regulations, out of which at least 3+ years leadership and management experience in Telecommunications.
  • Excellent knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to the OPCO and entire corporation.

SCM Manager

Job Purpose:

To manage and Control all aspects of Supply Chain Management, from quote to cash, to ensure that the internal customer expectations for deliverables in terms of time, cost and quality are met, in line with Business Objectives.

The candidate should have 8-10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management.

The Area of expertise is listed below:
  • Procurement— Must have exposure to procurement preferably in the area of Network, IT, Marketing and local Admin.

Job Purpose:

To coordinate, manage, control, support and track day to day network operations through network partners in order to provide customer delight through plus one network quality, availability and coverage.

N/W Planning — Responsible for 2G & 3G RF Planning.

Understanding of TX wilt be added advantage.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Electronic Engineering or Telecoms Engineering (Masters Degree in Engineering a plus).
  • Sound knowledge of Mobile Network O&M.
  • Minimum 5 years of varied experience in operation and maintenance in the Telecom industry, 2 of which should be in years managerial experience in a GSM/mobile company.
  • With at least 2 years senior management experience in an area of network operations.

  • This position will act as bridge between the Francophone Operating Countries and Nairobi Airtel Centre of Excellence.
  • Driving Business for financial controls and efficiency on working capital.
  • Coach, mentor and motivate the team to improve performance on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications
