Terre des hommes Foundation (Tdh) is an international NGO focussed on Child Rights.

To support the development of its Child Protection programme in Garissa County, Tdh is encouraging applications from Kenyan nationals for the role of:

Livelihood Project Officer 

3 Positions

Ref: Tdh/LPO/2011/05

Reporting to: Child Protection Project Manager

Duty station: Alinjugur, Garissa County or Modogashe, Lagdera distict

Contract duration: 12 months (with 3-month probation period)

Main responsibilities:
  • To be responsible, under the supervision of the Child Protection Project Manager, for all aspects of the implementation of the Cash transfer and Income Generating Activities to support vulnerable families, targeted by Tdh Child Protection project in (a) Dadaab refugee complex and (b) rural divisions of Lagdera district.
  • To conduct a Market survey and elaborate a suitable IGA strategy approach for nomadic or refugee households, including capacity building of the households.
  • To support Tdh Social workers or Government Children’s Volunteers in the follow-up of the beneficiaries to strengthen their socio-economic conditions.
  • To develop collaboration with the local authorities such as the District Children Officer, other partners and services in identify the most relevant IGA opportunities and mitigate risks of community and cultural resistances.
  • To contribute to the capacity building of one local partner.
Requirements:
  • Minimum diploma-level education in related field (economic and community development)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in projects aiming to strengthen livelihoods of vulnerable communities
  • Project reporting and evaluation experience.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Ability to communicate in local dialect is an asset.
  • Willingness to live at village level (Alinjungur or Modogashe).

Health Worker 

1 Position

Reporting to: Child Protection Project Manager

Duty station: Alinjugur, Garissa County

Main responsibilities:
  • To be responsible, under the supervision of the Child Protection Project Manager, for all aspects of the implementation of the Health and sanitation awareness and capacity building of children and families targeted by the CP project in Kambi oos refugee camp.
  • To support Tdh Social workers in the follow-up of the beneficiaries to strengthen the health and sanitation conditions of children and families supported by the CP project and the referral to health facilities.
  • To participate in the referral mechanism mapping and build collaboration with health partners
  • To coordinate with the Project Psychosocial counsellor and Child Protection team leaders to ensure regular assessment of community project impacts, and adequate support for most vulnerable families.
  • To build capacities of girls teenagers on health related issues.
Requirements:
  • Minimum diploma-level in Nursing or community health.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in projects supporting children
  • Experience as a trainer in related activities
  • Project reporting and evaluation experience.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Ability to communicate in local dialect is an asset.
  • Willingness to live in Alinjungur.

Our client is a reputable and reliable internet and satellite TV provider offering services across the East African Region, looking to fill the position of a Territory Manager - Kenya.

The Position

The Territory Manager will be responsible for the day to day sales & distribution activities in the assigned territory.

S/He will direct dealer and re-seller teams and provide stewardship towards the achievement of sales targets and growth in line with company vision and values.

The incumbent will implement plans and strategies to expand the customer base in the market area and contribute to the execution of training and educational programs for end Channel Partners.

S/He will be responsible for implementation on trade marketing, experiential and DSR activities in the region in liaison with the Dealers and the Country Sales Manager.

The Territory Manager shall also be responsible for carrying out market intelligence, research and supervising product placement in the retail outlets

Key responsibilities will be:

  • Communication and monitoring of Partner and Consumer Specific Promotions.

The Ideal Candidate should have;
  • A University Degree in Business Management or its equivalent
  • 3-5 Years Experience in Territory Sales
  • Strong analytical skills with a Team Player spirit
  • Good Interpersonal, Communication and Co-ordination skills.

Motor Bike Rider

Responsibilities
  • Deliver and collect items.
  • Maintain the motorbike:-
  1. In a presentable and clean state.
  2. Check engine and gear box oil level as specified.
  3. Verify correctness of all tyres air pressure as specified in manufacturer’s manual and assess tyres, retread, wear, evenness and damage.
  4. Ascertain the serviceability of all lights, horn, brakes, accelerator and ensure the brakes and clutch systems are working properly.
  5. Ensure the number plates are secured properly.
  6. Confirm validity of insurance cover and all traffic requirements.
  7. Ensure compliance to proper traffic rules governing road usage.
  8. Ensure paramount safety of the motorbike.
Requirements
  • Holder of KCE Division IV or KCSE mean grade of D+ (plus).
  • At least 3 years relevant experience in a busy transport setting.
  • A clean riding record.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Reliable with high level of integrity.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of urban set up.
Carmix Operator 

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the proper mix delivery and proper slump of concrete from the mixer truck.
  • Ensuring timely delivery to sites.
  • Inspect the inside of mixer truck drum on a daily basis to ascertain excess buildup and/or worn fins and report any deficiencies to the supervisor.
  • Maintain the mixer truck in a safe operating condition and report any mechanical problems immediately to the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Holder of KCE Division III or KCSE mean grade of C- (minus).
  • At least 3 years relevant experience in driving a mixer truck.
  • A clean driving record.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Reliable with high level of integrity.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
