Kagera Sugar Limited is a fast growing, sugar producer situated in the north west of Tanzania, 70km from the town of Bukoba which is located on the south western bank of Lake Victoria.

The company, which employs over 3000 people, grows sugarcane on 10,000 hectares of land and processes the cane to produce sugar for the local and regional market.

The company has the following vacancies on the estate.

Guest House and Catering Officer

The Guest House and Catering Officer will be required to:
  • Supervise the staff and operations of the canteens
  • Supervise the staff and operations of all guest houses
  • Supervise the housing needs for contract staff
  • Ensure a high standard of service at all times
The minimum requirements for the incumbent shall be:
  • Relevant Certificate or Diploma in the Hotel and Catering Industry
  • 5 years experience in a similar environment
  • Hard working, motivated and ambitious
  • Fluent in both Swahili and English
Gardens Maintenance Officer

The Gardens Maintenance Officer will be required to:
  • Supervise the staff in the maintenance of all parks and gardens in the factory and residential areas
  • Ensure that all areas are neat and tidy at all times
  • Carry out new project work as directed by management
The minimum requirements for the incumbent shall be:
  • Relevant Certificate or Diploma in landscaping/garden maintenance
  • Knowledge of common plants, shrubs and trees in East African Gardens
  • 5 years experience in a similar environment
  • Hard working, motivated and ambitious
  • Fluent in both Swahili and English

International Rescue Committee - Psychosocial Assistant - Hagadera, Kenya


The International Rescue Committee (IRC) in Kenya serves vulnerable populations in the Turkana and Garissa regions as well as in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

The IRC implements programs in the areas of comprehensive primary health care, nutrition, protection, peace building, water and sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and HIV/AIDS and prevention and response to gender based violence.

Applications are invited for the position of:

Psychosocial Assistant - Hagadera

The Psychosocial Assistant will provide technical support and leadership required for the successful implementation of all psychosocial activities, including the provision of direct counseling and case management.

The Psychosocial Assistant will be responsible for training and supervising GBV Community Workers to respond to cases of GBV in the camp and ensure effective case management.

This includes providing ongoing training and mentorship for community workers and utilizing monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure high quality services.

Qualifications:
  • Diploma in counseling and/or psychology. A Social Science or related degree is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct psychosocial/counseling experience with a reputable agency; experience working with survivors of violence preferred.
  • Clear understanding of gender, abuse of power, and issues surrounding violence against women.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, medical ethics and respect for clients at all times.
  • Experience in participatory techniques and community mobilization
  • Able to lead, train, supervise, facilitate and motivate GBV Community Workers in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner.
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications, including MS Word and Excel.
  • Willing to work in a hardship area. Experience working in a refugee setting preferred
  • Fluency in English, including writing clear and concise reports. Knowledge of and fluency in Somali is preferred.

3. Pharmacy Technologist

Qualifications:
  • Diploma (Pharmacy). Minimum KCSE C+.
  • Must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and
  • possess a minimum of 2 years experience in a busy Eye Unit.
