Minimum requirements
  • A graduate degree in Commerce, Communication or Business Management

Advertisement for the Position of KIST Consulting Company Managing Director

Background

The KIST Consulting Company is a limited liability company owned by the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) as the sole shareholder. The company was registered with Registrar of Companies on 11th April 2011.

The company will have independent management, its own assets and own employees. To be managed by a professional and experienced Managing Director.

It is a multi-sector company dealing with:
  1. Manufacturing and Production
  2. Consultancy Services
  3. Civil and Construction works
  4. Food Processing Services
  5. IT Services development (short course training, IT service)
  6. Laboratory Services (high quality analysis with latest technology)
  7. Accommodation and Catering
The Company is currently looking for a suitable person to fill the position of Managing Director, which is the top leadership position of the Company.

Basic Objective

The Managing Director will provide leadership and direction and coordinate all activities of the company in accordance with the goals and objectives of the organisation to safeguard and grow the assets of the organisation while providing sound returns to owners.

Key Responsibilities

The Managing Director is invested with broad responsibilities and authority. The company has just been registered hence the MD will be required to immediately develop a viable Company
Business Plan and spearhead the establishment of company envisioned.

The following is some of the key routine MD’s responsibilities:

i) Business Development
  • Markets –developing both local markets and export to international markets
  • New products – developing new products as the market dictates
  • Acquisitions – identifying and investigating
ii) Management
  • Strategic plan in coordination with staff and directors
  • Business plan for each business unit
iii) Compliance
  • Compliance with legislation and regulatory bodies, especially tax authority.
  • Timely accurate reporting to the Board of Directors
iv) Finance
  • Preparation of budget for approval by the Board of Directors in June each year.
  • Reporting against budget monthly to the directors, explaining any variations and defining actions to be taken if budgets not met.
  • Review increases in costs of any major items of raw materials, component or labour service charges.
  • Ensure the adequacy and soundness of the company’s financial structure.
Relationships

The MD is accountable to the Chairman of the Board for internal relationships with direct reports and for external relationships with suppliers, customers, the industry and government.

Selection Criteria
  • Candidate should hold at least Master degree in industrial engineering.
  • An MBA with experience in project and business companies management may be considered
  • A minimum of 3 years of managerial working experience for the projects or industrial company
  • Able to work in English, French and the knowledge of Kinyarwanda will be an asset.
  • Dynamic and able to work on field and travel oversea if needed
  • Able to raise fund for the company.

Ipas Policy Manager, Programs Manager, Finance / Office Associate and Policy Coordinator

Founded in 1973, Ipas is a global nongovernmental organization dedicated to ending preventable deaths and disabilities from unsafe abortion.

Through local, national and global partnerships, Ipas works to ensure that women obtain safe, respectful and comprehensive reproductive health services.

Ipas has a number of vacant positions to be based at the African Alliance office in Nairobi.

The Ipas Africa Alliance is based in Nairobi and focuses on regional policy change and improving reproductive health programs in multiple Africa countries.


Position: Policy Manager and Programs Manager
These are mid- level management positions.

The Policy Manager reports to the Vice President for Africa while the Programs Manager reports to the Programs Director.

The managers’ roles include leadership in annual planning, ensuring completion and management of the annual work-plan, monitoring of activities and ensuring results as planned.

The manager plans and manages budgets in consultation with the finance manager and staff from programs and policy teams; supervises staff and consultants; compiles donor, annual and other reports.

She/he also contributes to donor proposals and other resource mobilization initiatives.

Requirements: An advanced relevant degree and 5+ years’ experience in project management and supervision. Experience with reproductive health programs preferred. Excellent planning, budgeting, communications and interpersonal skills. Experience in writing donor reports.


Position: Finance and Office Associate
The Finance and Office Associate reports to the Finance Manager.

She/he assists in the management of the Finance Unit by assuming direct responsibility for specific finance functions, operational functions, fund accounting and providing backup for other financial and office management tasks.

The Finance Associate exercises discretion and independent judgment in her/his role and is capable of handling communications with all levels of the global staff on financial, personnel and administrative issues.

Requirements:

Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Accounting, Commerce or related discipline.

Chartered Accountants (CPA) preferred plus a minimum 5 years’ experience as accountant, auditor or fiscal administrator for public or private entities;

Knowledge of fund accounting and regulations for international non-profit organizations.

Ability to work in diverse environments.

Strong communication and analytical skills


Position: Policy Coordinator
The policy coordinator reports to Policy Manager: She/he provides administrative support, maintains communication with team members and partners independently and collaboratively, participates in report writing and helps harmonize activities in the policy unit’s advocacy and policy related efforts.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in social science or equivalent, experience in program coordination and management of logistics. Good communication skills. Excellent administrative and budget preparing skills, and demonstrated computer skills.
