Risk and Security Manager

The successful candidate will be in charge of managing all elements of security and ensuring that there are efficient systems to safeguard Company assets and resources, including physical security, safety of personnel, security of material, information, visitors as well as the coordination of security functions to minimize potential security breaches.

Required Qualifications
  • A degree in business, criminology or related field.
  • Should have training in Security management.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a senior manager in security management
  • Knowledge of Kenyan laws , government regulations and guidelines pertaining to emergency and security.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of advanced access control and camera systems.
  • Able to advise management in improving and carrying out policies, processes and practices in accordance with security and state regulations.
  • Able to analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine how to make premises and grounds more safe and secure.
  • Is preferably a former member of the police force or armed forces.
Management Accountant

The incumbent will be responsible for calculating, analyzing and reporting standard cost of production, manufacturing variances and plant inventory.

He/She will be reporting to the Financial Controller and will work to broad plant and corporate objectives requiring a great deal of cost analysis independent judgement and decision making.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 solid years of Cost Accounting in a Manufacturing Environment.
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, ACCA or CPA(K)
  • Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • Computer Literate - Strong Excel skills and the ability to use Outlook and Word
  • Experience with ACCPAC a plus
  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
  • Ability to accurately prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Knowledge of ERP
Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk will perform a variety of general accounting support tasks in an accounting department including verifying the accuracy of invoices and other accounting documents or records, updating and maintaining accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions (e.g., disbursements, expense vouchers, receipts, accounts payable).

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to enter data into computer system using defined computer programs. (ACCPAC)
  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Organizational, verbal and written communication skills a must.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is an asset.
  • Requires 3 years experience.

The Fourth National Call for Research Internships (2011-2012)

The Consortium for National Health Research (CNHR)

This is a Kenyan nongovernmental organization whose mission is to contribute to the strengthening of national research for health in Kenya.

This is done by providing support for multidisciplinary research to individuals and institutions, and engaging policy makers in formulation of health research policies that are evidence based.

The Consortium also contributes to the building of networks and communities in research for health.

The Internship Programme;

CNHR sponsors an annual research internship exposure programme that enables young graduates to make informed choice of pursuing a life-long career in research.

The third class of ten interns (2010-2011) successfully complete their training in September, 2011. CNHR will offer 10 competitive scholarships for a maximum period of six months (January to July, 2012). The successful interns will benefit from close mentorship and supervision by senior researchers in various institutions across the country.

Some of the selected interns will have hands-on experience in multidisciplinary settings; others will work in laboratory/field conditions and be exposed to modern approaches of research using sophisticated diagnostic or analytical equipment, health systems research environment etc.

Applicants invited from medical, biomedical science and social science disciplines: Applicants are invited from both public and private universities. Young doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurses, biomedical, social sciences, graduates who have an interest in research for health are encouraged to apply

Thematic Focus for 2011-2012

As part of the application, candidates will be required to submit an essay of not more than 1250 words on a topic related to the upcoming UN Summit on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). The essays should describe approaches for Strengthening Communities to halt Preventable Deaths from NCDs.

Within this topic, applicants are required to identify and describe one strategy that enables communities cope and manage the rising incidences of cancers, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, diabetes, etc. A panel of eminent researchers will evaluate the submissions and winning entries will be considered for publication.

Beyond being supported for internship, exceptionally performing candidates may be considered for award of further training scholarships at Masters and/or PhD levels.

Eligibility

The successful interns must satisfy the following criteria:
  • Be Kenyan citizens;
  • Be a recent (past three years) first degree graduate in any of the medical/biomedical or social sciences disciplines from a recognized university
  • Have a minimum of an upper second (or credit for non-classified first degrees).
  • Have no previous health research internship experience for a period greater than 3 months.
  • Be not currently employed.
  • Medical and allied health professionals (medical doctors, dentists, pharmacy, nurses etc) should have completed their respective professional internship
