Job Description for Lab Technician
Our client based in the food industry wishes to recruit a Lab Technician.
The Job Description is as below:
- Applies scientific and engineering principles in research, development, production technology, quality control, packaging, processing, and utilization of foods: Conducts basic research, and new product research and development of foods.
- Develops new and improved methods and systems for food processing, production, quality control, packaging, and distribution.
- Studies methods to improve quality of foods, such as flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, convenience, or physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of foods.
- Develops food standards, safety and sanitary regulations, and waste management and water supply specifications.
- Tests new products in test kitchen and develops specific processing methods in laboratory pilot plant, and confers with process engineers, flavor experts, and packaging and marketing specialists to resolve problems.
- Conduct standardized tests on food, beverages, additives, and preservatives in order to ensure compliance with standards and regulations regarding factors such as color, texture, and nutrients.
- Provide assistance to food scientists and technologists in research and development, production technology, and quality control.
- Compute moisture or salt content, percentages of ingredients, formulas, or other product factors, using mathematical and chemical procedures.
- Examine chemical and biological samples in order to identify cell structures, and to locate bacteria, or extraneous material, using microscope.
- Record and compile test results, and prepare graphs, charts, and reports.
- Clean and sterilize laboratory equipment.
- Analyze test results to classify products, or compare results with standard tables.
- Mix, blend, or cultivate ingredients in order to make reagents or to manufacture food products.
- Measure, test, and weigh bottles, cans, and other containers in order to ensure hardness, strength, and dimensions that meet specifications.
- Taste or smell foods or beverages in order to ensure that flavors meet specifications, or to select samples with specific characteristics.
- Order supplies needed to maintain inventories in laboratories or in storage facilities of food or beverage processing plants.
- Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Lab Technology
- At lease 2-4 years experience
