British High Commission Plumber - Nairobi, Kenya (KShs.112, 882 p.m.)

A vacancy has arisen at the British High Commission (BHC) for a Plumber.

The job is graded at LE IV for which the current salary scale starts at Ksh.112, 882.00 per month before deduction of tax.

Where the jobholder is not liable to Kenyan tax the scale will be abated under HM Treasury rules and to take account of the tax they would have paid.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will join the Technical Works Group, which provides technical support on property issues, health and safety issues, and provision of routine maintenance to BHC and its large residential estate.

He/she should be able to work under pressure with a view to meeting deadlines and staff expectations. It is important that the candidate can demonstrate good self-management and organisational skills.

Specific duties include:
  • Plumbing maintenance and repairs in our large residential estate.
  • Maintenance of Chiller plants and or Air Conditioning.
  • Installation and repair of domestic plumbing and various pumps.
  • Excellent Customer relations.

Qualifications:

  • 3 years working experience in a similar position in a medium to large company
  • Experience in electrics, welding, masonry, carpentry, plumbing and/or mechanics
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Strong oral communication skills and ability to organize and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Kiswahili
  • Computer literate
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Organise and supervise all aspects of maintenance of the farm, assets and equipment
  • Make a yearly maintenance plan and ensure execution
  • Report on the status of maintenance to the management
  • Coach, supervise and motivate Team Leaders and skilled maintenance staff
  • Work with other company staff to ensure adequate maintenance
  • Ensure maintenance staff works according to Company rules and regulations
  • Ensure a well performing and co-operating maintenance team
