About Action Africa Help Kenya: Action Africa Help - Kenya is a non-governmental organization that addresses development challenges in partnership with marginalized Kenyan communities mainly living in low income settings in urban and rural settings including arid and semi-arid areas (ASALs). 

AAH Kenya is an affiliate country programme of Action Africa Help International (AAH-I), which has been operating in the East and Southern Africa region for more than 25 years implementing programmes in South Sudan, Uganda, Zambia, Somalia and Kenya.


AAH Kenya is implementing a project in Mara Division called the Mara Division Enterprise Development Project (MDED). 

The project’s goal is to strengthen the community’s resilience and capacity to lead their own development through supporting an entrepreneurial mind-set in community members. 

This project will be working with livestock keepers, women and youth in the Mara division to address their economic development issues that will increase their income. 

About the Position: This position is part of the MDED Project, which seeks to undertake a process which will encourage the communities living in the Mara to carry out their activities as a business and use their resource to improve their living standards.

AAH Kenya is seeking a qualified and committed individual to join the team as a driver. 

The incumbent will also be the project ambassador in the community and work closely with the Project officer and community focal persons to support activities in Mara Division. 

Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of secondary education or its equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid professional driving license for light and heavy duty vehicles (BCE).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge and skills in operating and maintaining different types of vehicles.
  • Good knowledge of the topography of the country and full proficiency in local traffic regulations.
  • Proven ability to deal with clients with tact and respect for diversity.

Responsibilities:
  • Driving vehicles in order to reach destinations to deliver messages or materials for the Firm.
  • Loading vehicles ensuring that they are loaded correctly and taking precautions with hazardous goods.
  • Unloading and sorting items collected along delivery routes.
  • Receiving messages or materials to be delivered, and information on recipients, such as names, addresses, telephone numbers, and delivery instructions, communicated via telephone, two-way radio, or in person.
  • Planning and following the most efficient routes for delivering items.

The Officer at this level will report to the Officer In charge of Transport.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle’s cooling, oil, electrical, tire pressure and brake systems;
  • Detecting and reporting malfunctioning of the vehicle systems;
  • Effective usage and good care of the fuel card;
  • Maintaining the work tickets for vehicles assigned;

The Institute has led efforts to build National Health Systems in each country via strategic international, national, and local collaborations through the design and implementation of unique education, training, and treatment programs addressing each country’s complex HIV/AIDS epidemics. 

In Kenya, UMB through the Institute of Human Virology started operations in 2004 under the AIDS Relief Project consortium funded by Presidential Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through HRSA/CDC. This was the beginning of UMB’s work in Kenya which has seen implementation of 11 grants to-date.

MGIC seeks candidates for multiple positions for an anticipated $22,000, 000 health service delivery program that will support implementation and expansion of comprehensive HIV prevention, Care & Treatment programs; establish systems for quality assurance and improvement; and support strengthening of county and sub county systems for sustainable HIV service delivery.

  • Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route service.
  • Present safety briefing to passenger prior to each trip departure.
  • Responsible for the safekeeping of all vehicle equipment, tools, first aid kits, spares etc.
  • Keep the vehicle ready, clean and on standby – ready for use at all times.
  • Keep the assigned vehicle(s) clean inside and outside
  • Maintain accurate, up to date records on trip sheets, vehicle maintenance, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records.
  • Fuel assigned vehicle and perform minor maintenance tasks on assigned vehicle(s) as required.
  • Coordinate the schedule for vehicles maintenance with staff to minimize services interruptions.
  • Ensure that the vehicle has all required registrations/ licensing and inspections, and that necessary documentation is retained with the vehicle.
  • Undertaking basic servicing of vehicles by routine checking of oil, brakes, etc; and ensuring preventative maintenance is undertaken.
  • Monitoring breakdowns and report to designated officer for corrective action.
Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of the operations and features of the assigned vehicle(s).
  • Auto mechanic, administrative experience and basic computer knowledge, will be an added advantage.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Report writing skills and ability to read maps.
  • S/he should have a clean driving license, Certificate of good conduct and at least 3 years active driving experience.
  • ‘O’ level certificate, college certificate will be an added advantage.
  • First Aid Certificate.

Driver / Office Assistant

HFH in Kenya is looking to recruit appropriate candidates for the following positions:

Job Title: Driver / Office Assistant

Reports To: Human Resources & Administration Officer
 
Location: Nairobi
 
 
Purpose: The purpose of this position it to provide driving, messenger, and administrative services to staff that contribute to the fulfillment of the core mission of Habitat for Humanity Kenya of building and renovating houses that ensure families live in decent houses and decent communities
 
Relationship with other Departments
  • All departments and staff
Duties
 
Driving
  • Under the supervision of the Human Resources Officer, ensure the smooth transportation of staff and resources to as required.
  • Ensure that organizational vehicles are well maintained, and serviced regularly
  • Reporting and ensuring the compliance of assigned vehicle with all statutory and maintenance required.
  • Ensure all travel authorization before any trip
  • Ensure that only authorized persons/goods are carried in the assigned organizational vehicle.
Messenger Services
  • Deliver letters, parcels, documents to various offices and locations as directed by the Human Resources &Administration Officer.
  • Pay bills and undertake other chores as directed.
Administrative Services
  • Produce copies and dispatch documents to regions as required
  • Filing of office documents
  • Ensure cleanliness of the office.
  • Perform any other duties as requested by your supervisor.

Qualifications
  • KCSE / O’ level Form Four certificate with a mean grade of C
  • A clean driving license - Class BCE
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Excellent English and Kiswahili communication skills- both oral and written
  • Candidates with craft certificates or additional qualification will have an added advantage
  • A certificate of good conduct
  • Good Vision: You will have to watch everything on the road for potential collisions, accidents and mishaps.
  • Punctuality: Drivers are expected to get to their destination on time, thus being able to manage your time wisely.
Experience
  • 5 years continuous and accident free driving
