We are Seeking Volunteers for the JAF Festival 2012

JAF Festival 2012 – Volunteers Needed

The inaugural JAF Festival was staged in June 04, 2011 at the Jimlizer Hotel, thanks to the financial assistance from the Secular Students Alliance, Florida Discotheque (Madhouse), University of Nairobi, Center for Inquiry - On Campus and the Skepchics Foundation, which has promised to support this event in its coming days.

Held over a normal full day weekend, the festival brought together fashion designers, group of humanities scholars, anthropologists, sociologists, ethnologists and experts in mass-media, all membered to sexual and human rights organizations.

We have started to organize the next phase of our Festival, which is on schedule for May 2012 at the Nyayo Stadium Basketball Auditorium. The target participants will be 2000 youths from various institutions and organizations. The theme for the festival will be “Celebrating Freedom of Conscious in Kenya”, and we are seeking volunteers to help with the logistics.

Festival for Art, Sexuality and Humanism In Organized Nationality [FASHION] is produced by the nonprofit, member-supported, secular Unitarian organization Jahwar Amber Fund, Inc. All proceeds are intended to go directly to support JAF’s research, education and advocacy efforts to help preserve and protect Kenya’s humanist growth. As at this time, the festival is free to invited participants and is linked to the JAF annual conference that shall take place in June of every year.

Volunteers: REF - JAF/12/VL/05/IV

Duties:
  • Facilitate registration of participants during the festival

  • Prepare an event database, recording all activities from planning to success
  • Act as a communication channel and guides during the festival day at Nyayo Stadium
  • Assist in conducting publicity for the event

Jahwar Amber Fellowship Fund (JAF) seeks to make religious freedom a social norm. Too often, consciousness is seen as a barrier of division.

JAF believes pluralism can be a bridge of cooperation, strengthening our civil society and promoting the common good. Just as civil rights leaders and environmentalists built transformative movements in the 20th century, JAF believes that non-partisan leaders will build the movement for pluralist cooperation in the 21st century.

Since 2009, JAF has worked in Africa and with over 20 college and university campuses, training hundreds in the principles of secular leadership, and reaching millions through the media. We have worked with partners including the Secular Students Alliance, IHEU, Skepchics, the White House, Center for Inquiry and the Office of Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan.
