Senior Lecturer – Communications, Navigation, and Surveillance

Job Purpose: To plan and organise the teaching activities within the department in line with the academic calendar; to perform teaching activities

Scope of work / duties / responsibilities
- § Prepare course plans for the section
- § Evaluate the section’s training programmes in terms of quality, student feedback, attendance rates, training man-hours etc
- § Coordinate with other sections / faculties on teaching facilities and equipment for the proper planning of course delivery
- § Research on relevant field of study for upgrading / improving current courses and propose new ones and teaching methods
- § Keep track of, and report on, students’ performance
- § Provide subject-matter expertise, advice and guidance as required by teaching staff, internal and external stakeholders, including the Authority.
- § Ensure compliance to quality standards in the department
- § Perform teaching activities
- § Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department-Communications, Navigation and Surveillance
- § A Bachelors degree in Electrical/Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering
- § A certificate in at least 3 Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance(CNS) equipment courses
- § Instructor’s Training
- § Training in middle-level management
- § Certificate in “train the trainer” course.
- § Training in Curriculum Development.
- § A masters degree will be an added advantage
- Experience
- § At least 3 years experience in a senior CNS operational position,
- § 2 years’ teaching experience in CNS subjects
- § Proven experience in supervision and people skills
- § Knowledge of quality systems in higher learning institutions and applicable ICAO requirements
- § Knowledge and application of course design, training methodology design.
- § Supervisory/coaching skills
- § Knowledge of relevant ICAO standards and national requirement
- § Knowledge in industry trends
- § Strong verbal and communication skills
- § Understanding of examination administration and management
- § Proficiency in office suite and desktop publishing tools
