Tour Consultant Job Vacancy in Nairobi Kenya (KShs 15K)


We are a medium sized Tour Company based in Nairobi and we seek to recruit aTour Consultant to market and coordinate tours and safaris, manage transport logistics, design and promote tour packages, negotiate and liaise with hotels and lodges and undertake general management of the office.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responding to client enquiries regarding hotels & safaris
  • Prepare itineraries to the various destinations of interest
  • Doing research and producing periodical newsletters with current offers to be sent out to clients
  • Doing tour quotations and bookings
  • Doing regular check on website to ensure its up to date and running smoothly
  • Ensuring KWS park rules & hotel regulations are made clear to tourists
  • Ensuring payment for each tour booking is received in advance.
  • Creating contact with hotels, car hire, sightseeing attraction and other service providers for best competitive contract rates
  • Ensuring the contract rates files are orderly & up to date
  • Ensure bookings that do not mature are cancelled in time to avoid cancellation penalties especially for hotels
  • Briefing drivers before they depart for safari
  • Preparing welcome pack for tourists before departure for safari
  • Ensure clients’ special requests especially on accommodation & room specification, driver guide language, meals and others are pre-arranged.
  • Opening client tour files for upcoming tours especially groups
  • Making follow-ups for tour quotations
  • Ensuring that tours quotations are competitive inclusions, exclusions as well as terms & conditions of a quotation should be highlighted to reduce disputes with clients
  • Making sure vehicles (especially if hired from outside) have the company stickers
Experience and Education:-
  • Education in Tours and Travel related course
  • Previous experience of about 6 months in the same position is required.
  • Knowledge of using computers for research and tour quotations
Remuneration

Kshs 15,000 per month

The Government of Algeria is offering five (5) Scholarships to Kenyan students in the following specialties:

(a) Undergraduate Courses in French Language
  • Medicine: One (01)

Eligibility

The applicants for undergraduate should be:
  1. Holders of a minimum of KCSE grade B (Plain) with strong grades in the subjects relevant to the desired course (at least B Plain)
  2. Under 23 years of age
  3. Those who completed school not more than three years ago and have original KCSE Certificate.
(b) Postgraduate (Masters and Doctorate) in French language
  • Mathematics and informatics: One (01)
  • Science of matter: One (01)
Eligibility

The applicants for Postgraduate should be:
  1. Those serving in the Public Sector
  2. Those who have completed at least two (2) years of continuous service since their last degree studies
  3. Those who graduated in the last ten (10) years
  4. Under 34 years for Masters and have 1st or Upper 2nd class Honours degree from a recognized university
  5. Under 44 years for PhD degree and must be holders of Masters degree from a recognized university

Egerton University Endowment Fund was started in 2007 to provide scholarships for bright but needy undergraduate students in the continuing years.

Applications are invited from qualified candidates for scholarships (Tuition and Accommodation) in the 2010/2011 academic year.

Twenty (20) Scholarships are available this academic year.

Eligibility for award includes the following:
  1. Must be a Joint Admission Board (JAB) student. Self-sponsored students are NOT eligible
  2. Must be a continuing student in the 2nd year and above
  3. Should have an exemplary academic standing with a minimum and sustained Cumulative Weighted Average of 70.00 (First class honors)
  4. Proof of need as evidenced by a needs assessment report from the Dean of Students
Applications must be made to the Director, Board of Undergraduate Studies and Attachment Programs enclosing the following.
  1. Certified copies of the previous year(s) provisional transcripts.
  2. Certificate of Good Conduct from the Chief Security Officer
  3. A Needs Assessment Report from the Dean of Students.
  4. A recommendation letter from the Chairman of Department and Dean of Faculty.
  5. Copy of Student Identification card.
  6. A 2-page Resume indicating affiliation to clubs and any other qualification as evidenced by certificates/testimonials.

Project Officer - Kajiado MFS II WASH Project

Reports to the Project Manager and stationed in Kajiado

Purpose of Job:- To ensure the successful implementation of project activities in the project area.

Key Responsibilities:-
  • Participate in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
  • Facilitate capacity building activities for the project implementation team and other stakeholders including the community.
  • Participate in writing technical project reports for donors as well as for internal purposes.
  • Carry out operations research, documentation and sharing of results to be used in advocacy for policy influence.
  • Work with other project staff to document and disseminate best practices and lessons learnt.
  • Promote partnerships and networking with relevant stakeholders including Government of Kenya Ministries, NGOs and the community.

  • Participate in the development of new concepts and proposals for fund raising.
Qualifications and Competencies:-

The ideal candidate should have a first degree in Environmental Health, Public Health or equivalent.

S/he should have at least three (3) years hands on experience in implementation of WASH projects, experience in implementing Community Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) projects.

S/he should have strong interpersonal & communication skills, ability to work under minimum supervision and a team player.

Assistant Programme Accountant

Reporting to the Programme Accountant and based in Nairobi

Purpose of Job:-

The position will be responsible for providing general accounting support.

Key Responsibilities:-
  • Assisting in financial management and cash flow planning.
  • Supporting the various projects in budget preparation, implementation and monitoring.
  • Accurate coding of payment vouchers and files for data processing and/or payment.
  • Reconciling control and balance sheet accounts and clearing all reconciling items periodically.
  • Updating data in the SUN Accounting System.
  • Preparation of financial reports to donors
  • Monthly reconciliation of suppliers’ statements against ledger balance and liaising with the respective suppliers in a bid to clear any reconciling items.
  • Monthly preparation of internal recharges/recoveries.
Qualifications and Competencies:-
  • The candidate should have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Accounting/ Finance Option) with at least CPA Part II or its equivalent.
  • Two (2) years work experience in a large and busy NGO.
  • In addition, the candidates must have sound ICT knowledge especially in the MS Office Suite.
  • Experience in SUN accounting system will be an added advantage.
  • Furthermore, he/she must have a high level of confidentiality, honesty, integrity and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills and team playing ability are also essential to this position.
